Audit Template allows users to duplicate an existing building and, if necessary, reassign it to a different report type. This feature is helpful for creating multiple iterations of a building or if you’ve already started entering information under one report type and later need to submit the same building to a different program. Guidance to duplicate properties and buildings using “New York Energy Efficiency Reports” differs slightly and is documented in a separate section below.
Steps to Duplicate a Building and/or Change the Report Type
1. Go to My Buildings
From the main dashboard, navigate to the My Buildings screen.
2. Open the Options Menu
Locate the building you want to duplicate. Click on the Options (gear) button next to the building name.
3. Choose the Required Option from the Drop-down Menu
Select “Duplicate Building”:
This option creates a copy of the building with the same report type.Select "Duplicate Building and Reassign Report Type":
This option duplicates the building and allows you to select a new report type from a dropdown list. This is useful if you need to submit the building under a different program or jurisdiction.A modal dialog box will appear prompting you to select a report type from a dropdown menu.
Note: Only certain report types may be available in the drop-down. If you need a certain report type to be available, please contact the Audit Template team using the Help Desk button in Audit Template.
In both cases, the building name of the new building will have '(duplicate)'
added at the end, and the Building Information screen will include a link to the original report building labeled as “Source Audit Report.”
4. Review the Duplicated Building
Once the duplication is complete, review the duplicated building to ensure all necessary fields are populated and updated.
If you duplicated the building under the same report type, most data will carry over, but it’s still important to verify that all fields are accurate.
If you selected a new report type, a duplicate building will be created under the new report type.
Existing data will be copied over where fields overlap.
Some sections or fields may be empty or different depending on the requirements of the selected report type.
Please review all screens and forms and fill in any missing data required for the new report type.
Important Notes
The original building remains unchanged. You will now see both the original and duplicated entries under My Buildings.
This function is intended to save time when transitioning between report types, but it is not a complete substitution for a review. Each report type may have unique requirements.
Ensure that all necessary fields are completed and validated before finalizing your submission.
Duplicate a “New York City Energy Efficiency Report” Property or Building
For New York City Energy Efficiency Report, the duplication process differs slightly:
Duplicating Individual Buildings:
While editing a building, click the blue ‘BBL’ button, then select the “Building Information Numbers” link on the BBL Property screen. Next, click the gear icon in the Options column next to the building you want to duplicate, and select “Duplicate Building.” The duplicated building will be available as part of the same BBL Property.Duplicating an Entire Property:
To duplicate an entire property and its associated buildings, navigate to the NYC Properties screen. Select the gear icon next to the property you want to duplicate and choose “Duplicate Property” from the drop-down menu.
