Attempts to convert an Audit Template building to an Asset Score building will either display a Conversion Successful or a Conversion Errors screen and table.

Conversion Successful

Successfully converted buildings will be displayed in a table with an Asset Score building ID, name, and a converted time and date stamp. Listed buildings may be selected which will launch the Asset Score tool and open the building for review and edits before submitting for score.  Select the Back to Audit Template button to return to the building audit report in the Audit Template.

Conversion Errors

There are attributes for certain Audit Template input fields that do not map directly to certain Asset Score fields which will generate conversion errors.  Buildings that failed to convert successfully will be displayed in a table that lists the Audit Template attribute(s) that did not map to an associated field in Asset Score.

You may choose to return to the audit report by selecting the blue ‘Back to Audit Template’ button and edit the values for these fields and try to convert again.  If the values cannot be edited or if conversion errors persist, then the building will need to be manually entered into the Asset Score tool.

Common Conversion Errors

Use Type / Space Function / Building Area Types – Asset Score can model buildings with 19 common building use types.  Audit reports in the Audit Template may choose from the over 80 use types found in Energy Star Portfolio Manager.  The conversion process will attempt to map use types as close as possible (e.g. ‘financial office’ to ‘office’, ‘fire station’ to ‘police station’).  If no comparable match is found for a particular use type, then it will not be converted.   Common use types that will not convert include restaurants (Asset Score presently cannot model commercial kitchens) and hospitals. Note:  an error message will not be displayed; users will need to review the converted use type(s) in Asset Score and edit as needed.

floor_type can’t be blank – The Audit Template has multiple options for ‘Foundation Types’.   'Unknown' or 'Other' Foundation Type selections will generate this error.  Asset Score can only model Slab-on-Grade foundations.  Crawlspace and Basement options are mapped to Wood Framed or Concreate Floor Types.  Select Slab-on-Grade, Crawlspace or Basement, or delete all Foundation Type entries and select and enter a Floor Construction Type from the Exterior Floors option.

fuel_type can't be blank – Not all fuel types for Boilers, Chillers, HVAC equipment and Service Hot Water Systems can be converted and modeled in Asset Score and may generate errors. Select electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, propane, hot water or utility district Steam for boilers;  select electricity, natural gas, fuel oil, or propane for furnaces; and natural gas or electricity for water heaters.

plant_type can't be blank – Select Heating or Cooling Plant Types from the available drop down menus for Heating or Cooling Plants.  Note that presently only Electric Chillers may be converted to Asset Score for Cooling Plants.  Any other options selected for Cooling Plant Type will generate this error.

compressor_type_id does not exist – If an Electric Chiller has been selected for a Cooling Plant, a Chiller Compressor Type must be selected.  This error is also displayed if a Cooling Plant type other than Electric Chiller is selected.

condenser_type_id does not exist – If an Electric Chiller has been selected for a Cooling Plant, a Chiller Condenser Type must be selected.  This error is also displayed if a Cooling Plant type other than Electric Chiller is selected.

distribution_type_id does not exist – A value for Thermal Zoning Distribution Equipment for HVAC Systems must be selected.

number_of_lamps is not a number – Asset Score can accept a maximum of 12 Lamps per Fixture for fixture entries.  Enter a value of 12 or less in the Lamps per Fixture field in the Lighting section of the Audit Template for San Francisco or Berkeley reports.
